I'm back and ready to blog. Hoping to get some followers soon. 💗

Lots of books coming out this year that I am going to try to start reviewing here.

1st up is Jacob by Lisa Marie Rice

Jacob is a pretty good story but it started slow. Don't quit reading because you won't be disappointed. Alex and Jacob certainly have some history between them. Overall, the writing was good just kind of dragged in a few spots. Love the cover!

Thanks

CONTAINMENT REVIEW

Containment by Lucinda Throne

Halfway between Earth and a distant penal colony, Jensenn Mal is turning out to be the man of Lieutenant Lai's dreams ... literally. Ripped muscles, blue eyes, cocky attitude--they're there every time she closes her eyes. Too bad he's an enemy of the state, sentenced to a lifetime of hard labour and trapped in cryogenic suspension. Little details like those aren't going to stop Lai, however. She just has to get a better look at that body...

Yet, when Mal gets loose on the ship, he proves more than a match for his jailer. Their battle of wills ignites a passion even the cold of space can't contain, and now Lai has to make a difficult choice. Should she stay true to her duties and her masters back on Earth? Or surrender to the wily rebel who
has stolen her heart?

MY REVIEW:::

Very well done. I liked the who sci-fi element. It's like something from the Sci-Fi channel. Truly liked the characters and the romance between them. The plot was amazing!

At their enthusiastic behest, we have delivered this brand-new short story collection, including stories previously exclusive to Sherrilyn’s website, as well as an all-new, never-before seen Dark-Hunter story!

Sherrilyn Kenyon takes readers from the Dark-Hunters to the demigods, from Dream-Hunters to demons, and everything in between. Dangerous and exciting, each story is one thrill ride after the next, proving time and again how Sherrilyn has captivated millions of readers worldwide. Now, readers are invited to go deep into Kenyon’s rich and imaginative world and experience the heart-racing moments that never stop coming!

My review:
This is a nice collection of (most) previously published stories. The majority taking place, Ms. Kenyon's Dark Hunters book series. I've read most before but still loved reading them again. The two that I hadn't read before were just as good as the others. Ms. Kenyon is one of my all-times favorites. All the stories were well written and plotted. Some of them I would've loved for them to have been longer but overall a great set of stories.

STYLE ME SEXY
TARA CHEVRESTT

Bridget knows she isn’t beautiful; her ex made that point abundantly clear. So when her online-only romance suddenly leads to a real-life blind date, she beelines to the salon for a makeover. She’s dismayed and embarrassed when her usual stylist isn’t available and the sexy Javier steps in.

Javier has long been aware of the timid but kind woman, and vows to take this opportunity to make her see that she's beautiful on the outside, as well as in. Will he succeed in keeping his own feelings at bay and style her sexy?

A charming short story about beauty, the beholder, and believing in yourself.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Chevrestt and it was great. It is a little on the short side but that doesn’t take away from the story. It was a story of a young woman who didn’t see herself as a beauty but with Javier, he made her see the true beauty of herself. I totally will be spreading the word on this fantastic novella.
A Vampire's Christmas Carol by Cynthia Eden

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden heats up the holidays with...A VAMPIRE'S CHRISTMAS CAROL.

This holiday season has bite.

Ben Prescott hates Christmas--he's a vampire, and to him, there's certainly nothing jolly about the holiday season. While the humans are running around being merry, he's hunting in the shadows. Ben plans to spend the holidays his way...by stalking deadly prey.

But fate has other plans for Ben.

Three visitors are coming Ben's way...A demon who will force Ben to face his past, a ghost who will show Ben the present he could have, and a shifter who will reveal the darkness that waits in Ben's future. Unless Ben can change his ways, he may just turn into a real monster, one who can't be saved by anyone or anything.

'Tis the season...to be undead.

Ben's redemption rests in the hands of the one woman he loved and lost--Simone Laurent. If Ben is going to have a chance at being more than just the beast in the darkness, he has to prove himself to the lovely Simone. A very hard task, considering that, once upon a Christmas Eve, Simone died in Ben's arms...

Warning: This story features one very tortured vampire, a sexy ghost from his past, and hot scenes designed to melt the winter snow. Plenty of action, adult situations, and steamy times are ahead. Happy holidays!

(A VAMPIRE'S CHRISTMAS CAROL contains approximately 23,000 words.)

My review:
I so didn’t want this book to end. It was full of paranormal elements which I love.  This is not your typical Christmas Carol story. It was heartwarming and tragic at the same time. This is truly a story you should read for the holiday season even if it has a vampire as the lead. It was simply awesome.
Mistress of Ragnery
by
Raine English

A Gothic romance set in the Victorian era.
On a storm-shrouded island, ghosts of the past threaten to kill again.

Sheeva Desmond always believed she’d marry for love. But when she’s left penniless after her parents’ deaths and her fiancé cancels their wedding, she’s convinced love is a fairy tale. Desperate to find a way to support herself, she takes a position as governess to a troubled mute boy. She never expects to lose her heart to the boy’s handsome father. Or to become entangled in a deadly mystery.

Ronan Quinn, Master of Rathlin Island, spent years in an unhappy marriage. When his faithless wife threatens to leave him and is later found dead, he blames himself for not keeping her safe. He’s left with a hardened heart and a devastated young son. The beautiful governess he hires may have the courage to help his son and to heal Ronan’s soul. But a murderer from his past haunts the shadows and threatens them all.

Warning: Mistress of Raghery contains restless ghosts, misty cliffs, mysterious smugglers and a woman who will challenge them all to win the heart of the man she loves.

My take:
This is the first book I’ve read my Raine English and I am hooked. This put me in mind of gothic romance.  The plot and the characters were wonderful. I stayed up late at night to finish this gem of a book.  I loved the setting of the story.  I highly recommend this book.
